Perhaps Cairo’s most well-known claim to fame is as home to the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World that remains standing. The Great Pyramid was completed around 2540 BC and is today a grand focal point of a pyramid complex on the Giza Plateau outside the city. On your Cairo tour, you’ll make your way through an ancient Egyptian royal mortuary and a number of other mysterious and impressive pyramids and temples, so iconic of the country’s history.

Explore the Coptic sector of the city (the oldest area of Cairo) with a certified Egyptologist who will unearth Christian and Jewish influences through visits to Egypt’s first mosque, five Coptic churches, and the oldest synagogue in the country. Visit the Hanging Church to see its 110 religious icons, the oldest of which dates to the eighth century, before making your way to the Citadel and the Mosque of Muhammed Ali.

Your Cairo tour will include a guided walk that extends the full length of Al Moez Ldin Allah Al Fatmi Street, leading to Khan el Khalili Bazaar. Shop for everything from soap powder to semiprecious stones from purveyors lining the narrow lanes and small courtyards of the market.
